Step 2: First, take a few soft, slow, deep breaths in and out through your nose. Now do the Wave Breath by imagining you are at the ocean watching the waves. Watch your breath begin deep in the ocean of your belly and flow gently up to the shore of your chest. Waves do not force themselves out of the ocean, nor do they push themselves onto the shore. Match each breath to the rhythm of a wave as you watch it arise out of your belly and flow onto the upper chest. (For step-by-step instructions to the Wave Breath, see Part 4, Step 6.) As you inhale, the diaphragm goes down to meet the pelvic floor. As you exhale, the diaphragm floats up, toward the roof of your mouth. All your organs are getting a massage. Find a soft, slow, even rhythm and notice that the body is finding its spaces as the movement of the breath nourishes the fascial tissues around the organs and deep in the center of the body. This breath prepares you for the Core Hug Breath.
